EcoSun Pass: A new neutral method for assessing UV filters

  • BASF has developed an evaluation system for the currently available UV filters: the BASF EcoSun Pass.
  • If a filter is poorly rated in the following three categories, it scores 0 and is excluded. These ratings are based on the latest scientific findings and are continuously updated:
    • Acute or chronic toxicity in water
    • Bioaccumulation in organisms
    • Endocrine disrupting effect
  • The amount of filter used also has an environmental impact (the more used, the worse the impact).
