Developed by experts, our sun protection products not only protect against the rays of the entire solar spectrum (UVA, UVB, infrared, and blue light) but are also particularly well-tolerated and sustainable.
For more than 30 years, Ultrasun sun care products have been developed, manufactured and optimised in Switzerland, according to the latest cosmetic and dermatological findings.
In 1992, a Swiss chemist developed the first Ultrasun sun cream. Over 30 years ago, the scientist was looking for a sunscreen that reliably protects against sun rays and is particularly gentle on sensitive skin. As his brother had suffered from skin cancer and had very sensitive skin, it was important to him to develop a sun protection that is free from harmful and critical ingredients while simultaneously offering reliable sun protection.
This ethos lives on today in Ultrasun's products. Our range meets the highest quality standards, the filter technologies used are based on the latest scientific findings, and all our products are, of course, dermatologically tested.
To this day, we develop and produce in Switzerland.
The ingredients for our Ultrasun sun protection products are selected with great care and kept to the essentials to support the skin's natural balance. For over 30 years, we have been developing according to the credo CLEAN FORMULAS. This means that Ultrasun does not use controversial ingredients.
Our products offer reliable protection against the entire spectrum of sunlight. We use only high-quality, photostable filter technologies and ingredients that are neither harmful to the skin nor the environment. Our products, awarded the Swiss Allergy label aha!, are hypoallergenic and free from emulsifiers and perfume – ideal for sensitive skin. The light textures and non-comedogenic formulations prevent sun allergies, and the fast-absorbing, non-greasy formulations are also suitable for acne-prone skin as they do not clog pores.
In particular, products with a lamellar structure are a milestone in sun protection: they are extremely kind to the skin and environmentally friendly, as they require a smaller amount of filters for the same high protection factor.
At Ultrasun, we are continuously committed to research and development to create formulas that not only offer optimal skin protection but are also environmentally friendly.
The health of our oceans is important to us, which is why our products are reef-friendly. We not only comply with the Hawaii Reef Act guidelines by avoiding Octinoxate and Oxybenzone, Ultrasun goes a step further and also avoids Octocrylene and Avobenzone.
We proudly wear the title of the first sun protection brand worldwide to be recognised with the BASF EcoSun Pass was awarded – a seal of approval confirming the environmentally friendly nature of our sun protection products. Our products also stand for a vegan lifestyle* and are produced without animal testing.
Exception: our Ultrasun Lip Protection and the lip balms of the two Alpine combo products with SPF30 and SPF50+ contain beeswax.
Ultrasun is not only passionate about skin protection, but also committed to people's overall health and well-being.
We support various sporting events in Switzerland with our products to raise awareness for sun protection during sporting activities. Among others, we support the Ochsner Sport Zurich Marathon, the Gornergrat Zermatt Marathon, the Ticino Marathon, and many more.
Young athletes are also close to our hearts. It is particularly important to protect children's sensitive skin. Together with the former Olympic champion Nicola Spirig and her Phoenix Kids Triathlon, we are also raising awareness among the very youngest athletes about the importance of good sun protection. Cancer patients are among those who are particularly vulnerable. Various medications can increase skin sensitivity and promote sun damage. For this reason, we support the annual Pink Ribbon Charity Walk, which raises awareness about the importance of early cancer detection and shows solidarity with those affected. We are also a brand partner of the organisation Look Good Feel Better, which offers workshops for cancer patients throughout Switzerland. Ultrasun supports the charity Advantage Africa, which works with over 1000 people to improve access to dermatological and medical services.
To support Dr. Ngobi's Dermatology Clinic for children and adults in eastern Uganda, Ultrasun has been donating sun protection products since 2016, specifically for people with albinism, who suffer particularly from the strong African sun.
