Our Ultrasun suncare products with Lamellar structures offer a range of benefits that set them apart from conventional sunscreens. They improve skin tolerance and hydration, provide more effective and longer-lasting protection, have a more pleasant texture, and reduce the risk of skin irritation. These properties make them an excellent choice for daily sun protection, especially for people with sensitive skin.
As the lamellar structure resembles the natural skin barrier, the risk of skin irritation and allergic reactions is reduced. This makes them particularly suitable for sensitive skin types.
Lamelar structures allow for an even distribution of UV filters on the skin, thereby providing a long-lasting protection.
Our Ultrasun formulations with lamellar structures have a particularly light texture, allow for better and more even application, are quickly absorbed, and leave no residue on the skin.
Thanks to the lamellar structures of the formulations, lower concentrations of UV filters can be used even with the same high protection factor. This is gentle on the skin and the environment. The Ultrasun range for sensitive skin is therefore particularly environmentally friendly.

The ingredients for our Ultrasun sun protection products are selected with great care and kept to a minimum to support the skin's natural balance. We have been developing products for over 30 years based on the credo CLEAN FORMULAS. This means Ultrasun refrains from using controversially discussed ingredients.
Ultrasun dispenses with:
Artificial fragrances, mineral oils, silicones, PEG/PPG emulsifiers, BMDM (Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane), Octocrylene, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, and additional preservatives.

Our products reliably protect against the the entire spectrum of sunlight, which ranges from ultraviolet (UV) to infrared (IRA) rays. We only use high-quality and photostable filter technologies and ingredients that do not harm the skin or the environment, so that you are maximally protected while simultaneously enjoying the positive aspects of sunlight.
Sunlight penetrates the skin to varying depths, which is why protection from the entire sunlight spectrum is important.
UVB rays penetrate as far as the epidermis (the outer layer of skin) and stimulate the melanocytes there to release melanin to the cells, in order to protect their cell nucleus. This means that UV-B rays are responsible for tanning the skin, which is our skin's natural defence mechanism. However, too much UV-B can also burn the skin, in other words cause a Sunburn cause.
A positive characteristic of UV-B radiation is that it is responsible for vitamin D production. This means that a certain amount of UVB rays is good, however too much UV-B radiation harms the skin and, in extreme cases, melanomas (= skin cancer) can develop.

The UVA rays penetrate to the dermis, where they Free radicals to bring about, that to indirect DNA damage in keratinocytes (melanomas can arise) and can lead to the destruction of fibroblasts in the dermis. UVA is responsible for the premature skin ageing or wrinkle formation responsible. It is important to use UVA protection even in winter, because on a grey winter day, almost the same amount of UVA rays penetrate the cloud cover to the earth as on a sunny day.
The Infrared-A rays (IRA) Urge / Press deepest into the skin, right down to the subcutis (= subcutaneous tissue), where they form free radicals in the mitochondria. The free radicals damage the components of the cells, and this results in a Oxidative Stress for the skin. This stress leads to premature skin ageing.

Blue light (also known as HEVL or blue light) can lead to excessive or irregular melanin production in the skin, thus causing melasma (= sun spots). Here too, free radicals are formed in the subcutis, which in turn are responsible for skin ageing.
However, it is a myth that the blue light rays from screens cause damage to the skin. The rays emitted by computers and other electronic devices are too weak to cause lasting damage to the skin.

Ultrasun is the first sun protection brand worldwide to be awarded the BASF EcoSun Pass – a seal of approval that attests to the environmentally friendly nature of our sun protection products.
The EcoSun Pass is a certification and rating system specifically designed to assess the environmental compatibility of UV filters in sun protection products. This system was developed by BASF and evaluates the impact of UV filter substances on the environment.
The EcoSun Pass certification proves that our sun protection products have been tested for their environmental compatibility and assessed as environmentally friendly. This provides the assurance that using these products not only protects the skin but also benefits the environment.
